Dr. Cyrus Safizadeh DMD - Pediatric Dentist

Dr. Cyrus Safizadeh is a pediatric dentist offering services for patients from Amherst, Hadley, Northampton, South Hadley, and the rest of the pioneer valley. Massachusetts native growing up in Cambridge Massachusetts. Dr. Cyrus however has roots in the Pioneer Valley attending kindergarten & first grade at Crocker Farm Elementary School in Amherst. Dr. Cyrus completed his undergraduate education at Umass Amherst double majoring in environmental sciences & economics graduating with Cum Laude honors in 2009. At age 24 Dr. Cyrus decided to pursue a career in dentistry and at age 25 began dental school of the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. Currently Dr. Cyrus completed his pediatric dental residency at Columbia University/New York Presbyterian Hospital. The residency is a two year program and required for all pediatric dental specialists.

Dr. Cyrus passion for working with children began at a young age, in high school he was counselor in training at a music camp run by his guitar teacher.

 

During college as part of his work study Dr. Cyrus was an afterschool teacher at Pelham Elementary School in Pelham, Massachusetts for 4 years. Dr. Cyrus was also an overnight summer camp counselor for Camp Lanakila in Vermont. These experiences allowed Dr. Cyrus to gain an immense understanding of what working with children involves.

Early during dental school Dr. Cyrus realized the joys of pediatric dentistry and eagerly pursed applying to pediatric dentistry specialty programs. While at UConn Dr. Cyrus became the president of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Pre-Doctoral Organization (UConn chapter), the Special Olympics student coordinator, as well as founded the Special Care Dentistry Student Interest Group.

Additionally, during dental school Dr. Cyrus was awarded numerous scholarships & awards including the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Pre-Doctoral Student Excellence Award, the Dr. Peter Decker Academic Enhancement Scholarship, and the CAPFAA (Connecticut Association of Professional Financial Aid Administration) Scholarship. These scholarships are awarded to dental students who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to community service & academic performance.

Dr. Cyrus is interested in research and providing modernized care. His research projects have been on the subjects on antibiotic prescribing practices & overuse (completed while at Uconn) as well as examining the effectiveness of silver diamine fluoride (completed at Columbia University).

Dr. Cyrus & his wife recently welcomed their first child to the world in late 2021 and currently reside in Amherst MA.
