Extractions
Dr. Nubani and Dr. Cyrus’ primary goal is to help their patients maintain their own healthy and natural teeth. However, extractions are at times necessary when decay has made the tooth unsalvageable or when you have advanced periodontal disease. In cases where teeth have to be removed and extracted we always present treatment options to replace those missing teeth. This may come in the form of implants, bridges, or dentures. Our goal is to educate our patients on their choices and to have them make an informed decision on what suits them best.
Primary teeth otherwise known as baby teeth at times must be extracted due to extensive cavities and or infection. It is important to maintain the space a baby tooth would normally hold to avoid crowding when their adult teeth come in. Fortunately, there is a way to maintain that space even in the absence of the tooth by using what we call space maintainers. The design of the space maintainer varies depending on which tooth has been lost. This is a service provided by both Dr. Noelle and Dr. Cyrus for their pediatric patients.
How long is the healing process?
The healing process following an extraction varies from person to person. It depends on a patient’s medical history, age, and the severity of the tooth decay or impaction. We provide our patients with a brochure on how to treat the extraction site following the procedure to help ensure optimal healing.
